Snatching mic

I dont understand how some people sing like fuck but like to snatch the mic. I always pick up the mic when someone choose a song and can't sing it, but I wont try to sing a background vocal for people.

I hate going to sing k with people whom hog one of the mics and try to sing along with every song.
