Checking your ipod warranty period
I was on Apple's website, looking for a page where I can enter the serial number of my ipod touch to see how many more months of warranty is it under.
Many pages on google confirmed this page's existence, but obviously the link had been moving from places to places, because each webpage promised to link me to the correct apple page, but still, by the time I get there, the page is gone again.
For now, the page is here. At least correct as of this hour, and this date. Sigh.

No information? Oh who cares.
He wouldnt give me more information about the client's requirements.
So I asked the rest of the team did the client expressed preference over any aspect of the design, and if there's anything that's already procured.
(Obviously these 2 questions isnt enough, but it's a good start.)
He then called me into his room to tell me that I am obviously not using my brains when I am asking those questions.
How does that make sense to you? I dont have enough information, hence I ask. So I am supposed to toss my confusion to the winds and just worked on the project mindlessly? And if things goes wrong, well good luck.
Oh.
I see. I see.

The mystery of contact lenses
At work, I can wear my contact lenses for 26 hours in a stretch, but I cant wear it more than 20minutes at home.
How strange.
How strange.

Push or maybe just shove!
Mr Derail wanted me to help out in a project in his department, and the reason he gave me was that the 2 person in the current team is working too slowly and he hopes by me joining the team, I will motivate the team into working.
Or rather, threaten them with my speed so much that they buck up. Haha.
I cant say I am totally against the idea of helping out, given that I should be able to learn something new there, but at the same time, what if, I say what if, I perform so well that he wants me to be in his team permanently?
I still prefer my current role. More than anything else.
Let's hope nothing goes wrong.

One space or two
I just came to realise there is actually some sort of debate whether there should be one space after a fullstop, or 2 spaces.
I am not sure. What do you think?
I am not sure. What do you think?
I always use one. I never have a problem with that.

Is it quite obvious that I'd just went mad?
Postnote:
Forget it. Blogger will autocorrect it to be one space after full stop.

Moving out
Boss spoke to me the other day, that the office can consider moving to changi business park, so that we can enjoy the greenery, that will promote our creative cells.
I rolled my eyes and reminded that I stayed at the other side of the island, and I will die in the public transport sooner or later.
One disclaimer, my office is only targeted to move next year in october, so it is nothing too urgent now. But working backwards, we should be choosing office by june, so that there will be 3 months time to design and build the perfect office.
So between now till then, we will need to think about which location will be suitable.
1 year isnt a long time to do planning. Excuse me.
So boss is telling me, if we move to changi, and it will be too far for me to travel by public transport everyday, the company can buy me a car. But prior to that, I will have to take my driving lessons.
I told him I would rather they build a beautiful bedroom in the office, complete with shower room and TV, and split aircon, and 400 threadcount queen size luxurious bed.
Then I can really get out of this house and enjoy solitude.
Speaking of which, I want to save money to buy my own house. Sigh. But I am so poor, I dont know how to finally have enough money.

Which is worse?
I wonder, if you have a filing system at work, which you had perfected with the months you invested. A new colleague came by, and what gets you more irked?
1. She worked out a totally new and fab system, that you admit is flawless, but also understand you have to take another few months to comprehend and getting use to.
2. She rearranged your files, in an attempt to improve the system, but only prove to mess up everything.
3. She tries her best to follow, but her method is to label big ugly stickers, with big ugly scrawls indicating what each file / each cabinet is for, and in process destroying the stylish interiors you had promised your designer to maintain.
Well, which is worse?

Effort is SO overstated
A friend told me that she is awarded with less year end bonus than she expected, and I consoled her, telling that what she'd got is pretty good already, considering it is almost 8k.
She insist that she had worked hard in her job, and hence expect nothing less than 10k. She also insist that her boss is doing her a disservice. I argued that many people work hard in their job too, but never get the award they deserve. Sometimes bosses are not able to offer fat bonuses simply because the company cannot afford it.
And then, she went up to her boss, and demanded that she get the 10k bonus and guess what, the boss conceded.
She came back to me, gloatingly, saying that this is the least she should receive, and in the first place, her boss shouldnt had shortchanged her.
I was happy for her, not only for the windfall (wait till she hear I use this word, 'It is not a windfall, it is ALL my effort!' I can almost hear her threaten with a voice too shrill) and also for a boss who recognise her effort enough to want to appease her.
"No lor. It is all my effort. I worked hard ok?"
Suddenly I was very pissed. Putting in effort at work is a basic requirement at work, no? Since when is putting in effort a magnanimous accomplishment? But having a boss to acknowledge your effort, however little, is an important criteria to getting good rewards.
Your boss can jolly well ignore your request and leave you to munch on leaves and earthworms, and eventually watch you leave the company, or your boss can pay you well and retain you. But it is him/her who has the say in what bonus you get, and what monthly salary too.
So, get a bad boss, and remain cursed, like how I had suffered previously.
Maybe it is because she had never worked with a lousy boss enough to be appreciative of good ones, but I had always heard her talked about him, and felt that he is unreasonably nice. Hahahaha.
And I always wish I will eventually work for a boss who is just as nice. Luckily I do.
I am irritated at how she is so unappreciative of her boss, and always complains that he treats others better than he treats her. And in this incident, how can she just dismiss her boss's generosity? I cannot comprehend.
But to give her credit, it is admirable of her to demand for what she thinks she is worth. I was telling Lynn that night that usually woman are bad negotiators for salary increase, but this friend just proved the theory wrong. Hurray to her, hurray to ladies.

The very capable senior
Of course senior will never see this blog, but I really want to say that he is really amazing.
I am going mad with the workload at work, but at least I have senior to help me along. But he used to work alone, through endless projects, ploughing through endless emails.
He have my respect. Really.
He told me just now that, teaching a junior isnt difficult to him, cos while skills and knowledge is helpful, more importantly, the person should be optimistic and have a can-do attitude.
Yah, I dont have that attitude. I am a damned pessimist.

Cramp of the 2nd toe
The 2nd toe on my right foot is having cramps every other minute. NB.
By the way, I had decided to just throw caution to the wind and blog in the office. I use to only send via gmail only, but sometimes doing that, it feels like I am writing an email to a friend and I tend to be too irregardless on choice of words.
Not a good idea.
Blogging on blogger feels much more 踏实 and I can easily type chinese on this pc, so I can quickly say what I want to say!
But then again, it's not everyday that I have 20mins to spare like today. Ok I'll get back to work.

Fare hike
According to the news, sbstransit is going to raise fares again by 1 or 2 cents. How many times had they raised fares within this few years already and they still want to push the fare higher.
But know what? I'm feeling nothing about it at all. Go ahead and raise lor, not like our complains is going to be heard. They will just proceed no matter what we say. So dont waste your effort hor.

Evil
Do you know I am a wicked person?
No, you probably do not know that, because I am a person whom learnt how to disguise my emotions since I was young.
I appear to be all amicable, but no one really understand the monster lurking under the smiling facade.
I lament on others facing me with a false front, but I came to realise that I've since adopted the same to face others.

Giant dolls
It was a windy night, so we decided we shall just take a walk along and gong jiao wei.
Until we reached the bridge below the Shenton Way road.
There was giant carved dolls under the bridge, supposedly for the chinese new year decoration, but really, it was damn scary!
But I wasnt really scared by it. I was more amused by it hence I tried to take some pictures of it. But my camera resolution wasnt good enough, and I've forgotten to bring my digital camera with me, hence this is the best I can do.

Hallo Devil! : Leave
Ivel went on leave when the peak of busy-ness was over. The day before she was back at work, she met up with a colleague for lunch to see what was the latest gossip in the company.
She may be away, but she wants to be updated before she goes back to work so that she would not appear left out tomorrow.
Ivel, though eager to know, still tried to appear casual when she asked her colleague what was the latest status of the account that the manager had passed to her before she left. Her colleague told her that the manager had asked everyone to give the latest information of the project to Oliva, a lady in the team whom hold the same position as she is.
After the meal, Ivel was blistering with irritation on how an account that was supposed to be hers is seemingly being passed to another person. Oliva is more senior in the company than she is, and she is the better liked one, because she always play the role of a weakling when she needs to, and guys always rushed to her aid.
Comparatively, Ivel doesnt have those charms, and neither does she wants to depend on others, so she always work on her own, silently planning, secretly measuring odds.
Ivel had already decided, good that she knows it now, that if the manager is to tell her tomorrow that the account is passed to Oliva tomorrow, she is just going to smile and thank them for reducing her workload.
Still, she called Oliva, wanting to confirm with her whether she was given instructions to take over the project. "Of course not! The project is yours!" Oliva apparently dont wish to take over Ivel's project so to avoid a conflict between them.
"Why? Is everything ok?" Oliva asked, sounding concerned.
"Oh, just that I heard that they passed all the latest information of the project to you, and I wondered what happen." Ivel disguised the edge in her voice.
"I wondered too. But I know it is your account, so I've left all the information on your table already. You will see them when you return tomorrow."
"That's so nice of you. I was just worried that the manager will ask you to collate the information on my behalf. I know you are busy, so I dont wish to trouble you." Ivel immediately lied.
"Dont say that, I was busy too, or I will help too."
"That's so nice of you, ok, I see you tomorrow, bye!" Ivel smiled, ensuring she sounded cheerful over the phone.
"Bye!"
Ivel ended the call and wiped the smile off her face. Every conversation these days is leading to an impromptu acting practice.

Guestbook
After scrapping the tagboard, I've created a guestbook in place so that you readers (all 3 of you) can leave comments for me.
Meanwhile, emailing me is still an option. If you can still remember it, that is. =)

I will really blog more often
MJ left me a comment on my other blog under this account, and I realised that there are probably like 2 or 3 readers (hugs all of you with love) who might be still reading this blog.
I will really blog more often since I am going to abandon the "official website" soon because I cant be bothered to be nice to my colleagues anymore.
I am anti-social, yes, so what?
Ok, maybe not abandon, I shall not update there much anymore.
Meanwhile, just to be fair to the 3 readers that I have, I will blog more often. And gossip about the people at work. Muahahahahahah.

Changed over
I mentioned before that I want to change over to blogger beta so that I have the full control on whether to lock this blog or not.
I dont know whether it was a good idea to, because I was very used to the old interface and I didnt want to change to something else that I need to take a long time to get used to.
Now that I've did, I am happy with it.
Particularly the part about the labels, and how the number of entries I had written for the month is shown on the main blog page.
Also, there is a "next page" link which makes it easy to nagivate to older entires. =)
I will blog more. But regarding the wedding dinner, I think maybe not.
It was all very saddening. Sigh.
