No Idea What Boss Wants

I am increasingly annoyed with how my boss talks to us, or if I want to me more accurate, to me.

First he wanted me to keep comments to myself (he didnt express through words, more through actions, which we all know is more accurate than opening one's mouths) and I struggled repeatedly, until I realized that I should not waste my effort on something that saps my energy, and subsequently brings no tangible results.

So I give up struggling.

Then now he wants me to think. Now he doesnt want to 'spoonfeed' and he wants to see what I can do if he is not around. Isnt that some sort of an oxymoron? He wants to know how I would do something if he is not around. If he is not around, why would I need to show him anything? And if he is around, why must I pretend that he isnt, when he is going to shred my efforts into tiny strips and then impose his views on me?

And there's no point in communication with him either. And that is the sad part. I honestly hadnt seen someone as defensive as he is. He is either being verbally defensive, or he will stay mute for a while, strategising his defence measures, and then launch a full attack on you.

If I speak, I'm at fault. If I am silent, I'm at fault too.
And he will phrase it in such a nasty manner that I refrain to record here.

Oh god, please help me.
